UPDATE- California Highway Patrol has reopened all Westbound lanes of the freeway.
(Original Story) – A solo-car crash is causing major back up on Westbound lanes of the I-10 at Whitewater. Two lanes remain blocked and traffic is slow for several miles.
The crash happened at 2:43 p.m. after a pick-up truck that was towing a concrete pump had a flat tire and collided into the center divider, investigators said. The concrete pump on the pickup truck spilled hydraulic oil on the number 1, 2 and 3 lanes. Caltrans crews have since then cleaned up the oil on those lanes, but there is still oil near the center divider. Firefighters are now considering it a hazmat situation near the center divider.
California Highway Patrol is unsure how long the two lanes will remain closed.
