Rancho Mirage, CA
In response to the recent opioid epidemic in the U.S., The Betty Ford Foundation has announced it will be implementing a treatment plan right here in the valley.
The twelve-step-four-week protocol is already being offered at other facilities in the country, but will now be available at The Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage.
Experts say the treatment consists of specialized psychiatric programming, psychological counseling as well as utilizing one of two evidence based- medications that substitute for opioids. "This program is designed to improve treatment retention and facilitate abstinence and promote long-term recovery," Medical Director of The Betty Ford Center Steven Eickelberg said.
Research has already begun to show the program’s twelve steps to be effective in combating opioid addiction.
