Excessive Heat Warning Continues for The Valley Until 8pm

KMIR

Coachella Valley Region

The Coachella Valley is scorching again today, with temperatures expected to climb through the afternoon as high pressure lingers over the region.

Noontime temperatures included 108 degrees in Palm Desert, 107 degrees in Palm Springs, 106 degrees in Thermal, 104 degrees in Thousand Palms and 103 degrees in Indio.

A National Weather Service heat advisory for the Coachella Valley is set to remain in effect until 8 p.m., with highs expected to peak between 112 and
117 degrees this afternoon.

Slightly lower temperatures are expected Friday, according to the NWS, which reported that temperatures “will gradually cool off this weekend, with a
chance of thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts.”

Forecasters advised those who live in or visit desert areas to avoid potentially serious ailments by staying hydrated and avoiding unnecessary
outdoor labor. Authorities also warned against leaving children or pets in parked cars, which can quickly become death traps in high heat.

KMIR Chief Meteorologist Ginger Jeffries will have your latest forecast and conditions beginning at 4:30pm on KMIR News.
