Tickets for this fall’s preview of 2017 Modernism Week in Palm Springs will go on sale today at noon.
The fall preview, scheduled for Oct. 21-23, “is a wonderful opportunity for attendees to get a taste of what our 11-day festival in February will offer,” said Lisa Vossler Smith, Modernism Week’s executive director.
The preview event will include walking and bus tours highlighting Palm Springs homes and architecture, including a docent-led tour of Frank Sinatra’s “Twin Palms” estate and architect Albert Frey’s second home in the city, which overlooks the Coachella Valley from its location part way up the San Jacinto Mountains.
A Modernism Show & Sale will start off the weekend with an opening night party and an early-buying preview reception planned at the Palm Springs
Convention Center. Furniture, art, textiles and more will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.
Saturday’s festivities include a special dedication on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars for local architectural historian Robert Imber, and a cocktail reception honoring Palm Springs architect E. Stewart Williams.
Tickets for the preview will be available online at www.modernismweek.com or at the door during the opening night reception. Tickets will range from $15 to $150.
The most recent Modernism Week attracted a record number of attendees — more than 77,500 — and generated an estimated $28.6 million in revenue forlocal businesses, according to organizers. Modernism Week 2016 featured props from TV’s “Mad Men” and live interviews with the show’s creator, Matthew
Tickets will go on sale in November for the 12th annual Modernism Week, which will take place from Feb. 16-26.
