PALM SPRINGS, Ca.

A teen is under arrest following a drive-by shooting in Palm Springs, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at approximately 2 p.m. near Via Escuela and Volturno Road.

They began an investigation and learned of a possible suspect and his possible whereabouts. Officers were then able to locate the suspect vehicle in Cathedral City.

They attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to yield, according to authorities.

The driver led police on a short pursuit and during the pursuit, police say, a gun was thrown out from the vehicle.

Police were able to detain two occupants in the vehicle when it came to a stop. One of them was a juvenile who was later released, authorities said.

However, the driver, 19-year-old Nysoni Randolph, was arrested as the suspect in the shooting.

Randolph was booked into the Larry D Smith Correctional Facility and faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and evading police.

No injuries were reported and the weapon was also recovered by officers.
