Dog Rescued from Car in Triple Digit Heat

PALM SPRINGS, Ca.

Police received a call this afternoon about a dog locked in a vehicle for over an hour in 106 degree heat off of Andreas Road in the Spa Resort Casino Parking Lot in Palm Springs.

The reporting party contacted police at 1:08 p.m. when they realized the dog was in distress. The first arriving officer reached the vehicle at 1:16 p.m.

The windows of the car were closed, the doors were locked, the car was off, and the dog was alone in the vehicle.

Animal Control arrived at the scene, using a slim jim to get into the vehicle.

The dog was immediately taken to a VCA animal hospital for medical evaluation and the owner of the vehicle was cited.
