PALM SPRINGS, Ca.

The Palm Springs Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that happened Sunday night in Downtown Palm Springs.

Officers responded to reports of shots being fired at the 200 block of South Palm Canyon Drive just before 9:30 p.m.

Authorities say three to four shots were fired from a vehicle driving southbound on South Palm Canyon Drive.

At least one round struck a glass window at the Village Pub, according to police.

"We had numerous people calling to say that a vehicle, a dark gray or a light gray, charger type vehicle, was seen pulling in front of the village pub and firing rounds towards the business. The Village Pub was struck with at least one round," said Sgt. William Hutchinson with the Palm Springs Police Department.

Soon after a police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle that fit the description of the one involved in the shooting.

"The officer attempted to stop that vehicle and that vehicle, which was also a Dodge Charger, attempted to ram the police officer’s car. The police officer was able to avoid the collision, but momentarily lost sight of the car," Hutchinson said.

The officer located the vehicle again a few blocks away but the suspect was able to escape.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and are hoping for help from the public to apprehend the suspect.

"At this point were looking for anyone that has any information about the shooting, maybe the motive for the location to come forward. We’re still contacting witnesses, we’re still looking for any surveillance video to see if there was some relation with something that may have occurred  that night at the village pub," said Hutchinson.

Anyone with information that can lead to the suspect’s arrest is encouraged to contact the Palm Springs Police Department at 760-323-8116 or Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP to remain anonymous.
