Nearly 2,000 people in Palm Desert and Cathedral City were faced with a power outage early Thursday morning.

Southern California Edison (SCE) says most of its customers have had their power restored only saying that equipment failure is to blame for the outage in Palm Desert.

37 customers in Palm Desert remain without power and 66 customers in Cathedral City.

This all started just before 6:00 a.m. and SCE says they are working to figure out what caused power to go out in Cathedral City.

Power is expected to be fully restored in areas of Palm Desert by 11:00 a.m., according to SCE.
