La Quinta, CA

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says they’re investigating a drowning that happened in the home of a La Quinta swimming pool as suspicious. The drowning was reported just before 6:00 a.m. on Monday. When first responders arrived at the home on the 53000 block of Avenida Bermudas the woman was already dead.

The homeowner, who did not want to be identified or go on camera, says the woman was a guest visiting from Arizona in her 50s and was a nurse. He says when they woke up in the morning they found the woman floating in the pool.

Joe Stemmer was a few doors down when he saw police and first responders arrive, "I saw the police car down there this morning it was there for a long time, first I thought it was a traffic stop, but then a little later I saw the ambulance go by then a fire truck and then the police car was there for a long time so I knew something terrible had happened, something suspicious …  I heard that someone had drowned, I think it’s terrible when anyone loses their life, you know hopefully … the family is doing okay."

Riverside County Sheriff’s have not released the name or any other details about the victim.
