A firefighter was injured Sunday while battling a fire at a strip mall in Beaumont.
The blaze was reported about 6 a.m. at a 15,000-square-foot strip mall in the 400 block of East Sixth Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The fire forced the closure of Beaumont Avenue just north of its interchange at Interstate 10, and south of Sixth Street, RCFD spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.
About two dozen firefighters battled the raging blaze and were able to extinguish the flames by 7:35 a.m., Hagemann said.
One firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment, although information regarding the severity of the injuries was not immediately available.
Fire personnel were expected to remain on scene for about four hours, Hagemann said.
