An outage affecting nearly 2,000 Southern California Edison customers in Desert Hot Springs Tuesday was possibly related to a power pole fire in the city.

The outage, reported at 11:19 a.m., affected 1,988 customers in an area bordered by Camino Aventura to the north, Ramon Road to the south, Indian Canyon Drive to the west and Mountain View Drive to the east, according to SCE spokesman Paul Netter.

Power was restored to all but one customer just before 1 p.m., according to the utility.

Netter said the cause of the outage had not been determined. The Riverside County Fire Department did extinguish a power pole fire about 11:20 a.m. near the intersection of Date Palm Drive and Dillon Road.
