Blackhawks Dominate, Close In On DVL Title

Indio, CA

The La Quinta Blackhawks are peaking at the perfect time. Their offense continues to roll, running back Benji Cordova notched 4 touchdowns, all in the first half of some Thursday Night Lights at Indio High School, while their special teams and defensive units showed off in a 63-0 win over the Indio Rajahs.

After making a surprise run into the semi-finals of the CIF Playoffs last year, La Quinta’s head coach Dan Armstrong, knowing his team was returning key starters came into this year looking to right some wrongs from 2015 (such as losses to Palm Desert and Palm Springs), win a DVL title and make another deep playoff run before he retires from his coaching career.

He’s made no secret of his plans to retire after this season and as his team continues to improve with each game.

They’re undefeated in league play and have an extra night to prepare for their final game of the season at home against Cathedral City before finding out their final standings in Division 5 and playoff match up.
