Arrest Made in Rancho Mirage Sexual Assault Case

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly committing a sexual assault at a Rancho Mirage park last week.

The alleged assault was reported last Thursday at 5:48 p.m., according to sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Hoyt. He said the suspect and victim, whose name and age were withheld, walked together to the wash area west of Michael F. Wolfson Park, where the sexual assault allegedly took place.

Sheriff’s deputies booked the Rancho Mirage teen, who was taken into custody at 9 a.m.,  into Indio Juvenile Hall on suspicion of sexual assault, Hoyt said.
