The suspects were arrested Friday night. One was a 17-year old male juvenile whose identity was not released.

The other suspect was Sandra Vanessa Herrera of Desert Hot Springs, 19, who was arrested after officers served a search warrant at a Cathedral City residence where she resided, police said.

During the search, police said they found the firearm used in the shooting. Herrera was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of attempted murder and carrying a loaded firearm without being the registered owner, according to inmate records. She was being held without bail.

The motive for the shooting was unclear but police believe the suspects might have local gang affiliations, Palm Springs police Sgt. William Hutchinson said.

The two victims remained hospitalized with gunshot-related wounds but were expected to survive, Hutchinson said.
