Indio, CA

Just one block from Interstate 10, there’s a new dining experience to satisfy locals and travelers taste. From slushies’ to hot dogs and all things fried, Sonic Drive-In knows how to put hospitality first.

"You can drive up, press the button, order and they’ll bring it out," said Eileen Salazar with Chandi Group USA, the owners of the fast food joint.

Months ago, trying to get to the very spot where the business is located, would’ve been a headache due to the Jefferson Street bridge construction but today, drivers exit the interstate with ease. Less than a minute later, they’re ordering up.

"It just makes it really easy, they’ll be right out and i’ll eat in my car and go," said Jovanny Silva-Sanchez.

He lives in indio but normally travels several miles to indulge in sonic eats.

"Driving to cathedral city mission, you have to make it an evening thing," he said.

Now he’s right at home. But to service him and thousands of customers a week, the restaurant need to hire more than 110 employees and they did. It’s all to cover car hop lanes, two drive-thrus and a decent sized dining room that sits up to 60 people.

"Opportunities for the community so we were really exciting to have that many job openings for everybody," Salazar said.

They’re even outfitting staff members in roller-skates.

"Really entertaining but it takes you back to the 60’s drive-ins when the car hops were huge," she said.

The entire experience she says, is perfect way to enjoy a warm end-of-summer evening with the family.
